Principles of Life: 10 - Demoi issue

Disclaimer: Agora believes in cultural diversity through a very specific system of Demoi. The following is part of the Genesis Ethos, a set of values specific to Agora Genesis alone. You may find your values diverge from Genesis but, consider showing them respect as you make passage through Genesis to another Demoi.

Agorans study and share the paths to living a life of excellence in order to maximize their impact. Agorans understand that to create meaningful change it's better to create superior systems than to merely protest, something which will require a passion for excellence.

These Principles of Life embody our consensus on the most optimal path to excellence.

Purpose

Understanding one's purpose enables them to push through the friction of mastering excellence. Discovering one's purpose, writing it down and repeating it regularly, are essential to creating the clarity needed for the pursuit of excellence.

Agorans, for example, view life as an incredible gift and use that gift to actively serve those in need.

Compassion

Excellence without compassion leads to ruthlessness.

The ruthless through their love of ruthlessness attract other ruthless people to themselves, leading to their own demise.

There is no love of excellence without a care for people. Those who love others and excellence draw excellent people to themselves allowing them to amplify excellence those people.

Beliefs

How one sees themselves shapes one's behavior. People who love excellence understand that evolving their view of themselves is the first step to excellence.

To do this, they figure out how they define themselves, whether by hobbies or capabilities, and insert excellence into their view of themselves.

"I am an excellent designer that puts their best into their every design for the sake of my team."

They then follow up that belief with matching actions.

I have a gut feeling there's a massive gap between these two.

Humility

Arrogance warps one's perspective, leading to failure.

The excellent understand that excellence can lead to arrogance if not coupled with gratefulness.

Gratefulness

Gratefulness begins with awareness of each person and thing that had an impact on your life no matter how distant.

Expressing meaningful thanks consistently nurtures gratefulness.

Imperfections

An excellent person understands they have weaknesses and actively explores and counters them.

The next step

Practicing these principles regularly serve as the necessary foundation of further excellence in any field.
