Authentication

Remembering and filling in passwords has become a tremendous burden on the average internet user. Remembering long strings of characters is not a normal task for a human brain.

Humans remember:

  • Shapes

  • Colors

  • Sounds

Rather than long strings of letters and numbers.

So why not come up with an authentication system around the things people remember?

3D authentication concept

In this authentication concept, a user is presented with a 5×5×5 cube and prompted to create something they'll remember using 3D objects located in a ball pit below the cube.

They must fit a series of brightly colored shapes from a ball pit into the frame.

  • Via AR: Grab and drag 3D objects into the squares and they will “snap” in.

  • On PC: Click and drag objects into the space and one of the slices will highlight while the others go transparent. Move the object into the desired area of the slice.

  • On mobile: Same as pc but with touch.

Users would place the objects inside of the frame and have the ability to rotate them. A much greater number of shapes with would be available. However, their sizes would either be small or large with nothing in between.

Only one item would fit each space and after the user has placed four items the user is asked to name their creation. This name will be presented to them each time they're asked to authenticate giving them half of the memory puzzle to trigger the memory.

Re-authentication

At the start of a user's experience in Synapse, they'll be asked to re-authenticate three times during their short first use of the platform. These re-authentications can be triggered by entering one's home, opening one's first application, etc. in order to establish a memory of their new digital password.

It will be clearly listed that these authentication creation screens are for the sake of memory and that they must be completed much more during early use than later use.

Wallet authentication

Each time a user accesses their wallet, an authentication screen must be presented to them.

Society pairing

Individuals who sign up for Synapse do not have to be paired with a digital society to start out. They can simply make an account. However, after making an account, they are shown a list of all the digital societies they could potentially join.
